One of the missing Hungarian hikers in Slovenia rescued

Search teams in the Kamnik Alps of Slovenia have successfully located one of the two Hungarian hikers reported missing.

However, due to severe weather conditions, rescuers are currently unable to reach him, as stated by Jernej Lanisek, the leader of the rescue team. The two hikers lost their way in the Kamnik Pass on Sunday, with one suffering a broken leg.

Condition of the Rescued Hiker

The female hiker was the first to be found and rescued on Monday. She was located in a gorge, where a doctor and a mountain rescuer descended 50 meters down a cliff using a rope to reach her. Although she did not have any injuries, she was suffering from hypothermia and had grown despondent, fearing she would not be found. Protective clothing and her sleeping bag were crucial in preventing her from freezing.

Ongoing Search and Challenges

The male hiker, who presumably also has a broken leg, remains in a location that rescue teams can identify but cannot safely access due to strong winds in the search area. The head of the rescue service remarked that this rescue operation poses one of the biggest challenges faced by the team this year.
