Viktor Orbán won't be attending Donald Trump's inauguration

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will not attend the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump on January 20.

According to Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's press chief, Orbán is scheduled to be in Budapest that day, where he will deliver a speech at a conference evaluating the outcomes of the Hungarian EU Presidency.

Guests at the Inauguration

The guest list for Trump's inauguration in Washington, D.C. continues to grow, with notable figures like tech giants Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg confirmed to attend. Former President Barack Obama has announced his presence, while Michelle Obama has stated she will not be there.

Several foreign leaders have also received invitations, including Argentine President Javier Milei and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, both of whom have confirmed their attendance. Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is working to regain his passport to make the trip, despite his legal challenges. Chinese President Xi Jinping's attendance is still uncertain.

Confirmed Attendees from Europe

In addition to foreign leaders, several far-right European politicians have confirmed their attendance, including Nigel Farage from the UK, Eric Zemmour from France, Geert Wilders from the Netherlands, and Tom Van Grieken from Belgium. It was mentioned last November by Gergely Gulyás, the Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, that rumors of Orbán's attendance were unfounded.
