Viktor Orbán meets the pope

On December 4, 2024, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Pope Francis at the Vatican.

During this audience, Orbán highlighted the pressing need for peace, stating, “Since the beginning of the war, there have been two believers in peace: the Vatican and Hungary. The opportunity for peace is now within reach.” He emphasized the importance of leveraging the Pope’s prayers and the Vatican’s invaluable diplomatic experience as the world approaches the Christmas season.

Urgency for Ceasefire

Orbán expressed concerns about various European leaders advocating for the continuation and escalation of the conflict, calling it a dangerous situation. He stressed the need for immediate ceasefire and collaboration among world leaders to prevent irreversible decisions as the war could spread further.
