Tisza leads in polls at 47 percent with Fidesz at 36 percent
A recent survey conducted by Medián between November 20 and 26, 2023, reveals significant shifts in party support among Hungarian voters.
This poll included responses from 1,200 adult participants, and the findings were adjusted statistically to reflect the demographic composition of the adult population in Hungary.
Key Findings
The study highlights a notable increase in support for the Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, now standing at 47% among definite party supporters. In contrast, the ruling Fidesz party has experienced a decline from 32% to 27%. The Mi Hazánk party maintains stable support, with 5-6% across both the general population and among confirmed voters. Meanwhile, parties such as the Kutyapárt and the Democratic Coalition (DK) show slight growth but remain below the parliamentary threshold.
Influencing Factors
The survey suggests that alongside economic concerns and general pessimism, Péter Magyar's political communication may have contributed to the Tisza party's increase in popularity. Additionally, the ruling Fidesz party's campaign activities, particularly those involving Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, appear to have influenced these shifts. Orbán's efforts, including the new National Consultation and his campaign tours, are seen as attempts to bolster the party’s waning popularity in response to challenges from the Tisza party.
