On January 18, 2025, a 71-year-old man was arrested by the police in connection with an alleged assault on a volunteer from the Tisza Party at Örs vezér tere in Budapest.
The police stated that they identified the suspect, who was taken into custody in the III. district of the city.
Charges and Details
The police are investigating the man for charges of disorderly conduct and minor bodily harm. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening when the volunteer was slapped by the man, who subsequently fled the scene. Fortunately, the volunteer did not sustain any injuries requiring medical attention but did file a report with the authorities.
Following the incident, Péter Magyar, president of the Tisza Party, called on Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to stop fostering division within society and to halt the hate rhetoric propagated with taxpayer funds, warning that such actions could lead to more serious incidents in the future.
