M1 motorway to expand between Budapest and Győr
The Hungarian government has approved a significant investment of 800 billion HUF for expanding the M1 motorway section between Budapest and Győr.
According to Minister Lázár János, construction is scheduled to commence in August 2025, with project completion anticipated by early 2029.
Key Developments
The initial phase of the project will focus on a 24-kilometer stretch between Budapest and Bicske, aimed at improving suburban traffic in the Budapest metropolitan area. Additionally, plans include the construction of a junction for connecting the M100 motorway and a tender for the 35-kilometer section linking the M1 with Esztergom, which is estimated to cost around 500 billion HUF.
