Hungary could become a health tourism destination for the Arab world

During a recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, Kóka János, a former politician and current businessman, discussed the potential for Hungary to become a health tourism destination targeting the Arab world.

This conversation took place while accompanying Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during his January trip to the Emirates. While Kóka did not disclose specific conversations, he emphasized the growing health issues in the region, where up to 40% of adults are affected by diabetes and obesity.

Opportunity for Health Tourism

Kóka believes that Hungary could attract many wealthy patients seeking lifestyle changes and medical assistance. He stated that positioning Hungary effectively in this market could bring in significant numbers of patients from the region. Additionally, he argued that such an initiative could help bring back talented medical professionals who have emigrated, enhancing Hungary's healthcare capabilities.

Kóka, who is also a shareholder in the health services company Doktor24, highlighted that business remains distinct from politics. He encouraged collaboration between the two sectors, focusing on how Hungarian expertise and products could be introduced to the market and improve the healthcare system.
