Gyurcsány Ferenc wins DK presidential nomination

With the current terms of the Democratic Coalition (DK) officials set to expire, the party is preparing for elections in February.

According to a party announcement, the Nomination Committee based its decisions on recommendations from party members regarding candidates for various positions.

Presidential Nomination Results

Four candidates competed for the presidential nomination. Ferenc Gyurcsány received 513 endorsements, while Abd El Rahim Ali received 29. Miklós Török garnered 17 recommendations and István Kovács only two, securing Gyurcsány's nomination once again.

For the five vice-presidential positions, five candidates participated following one withdrawal, and 23 candidates were put forward for ten executive board roles. The committee nominated the 16 candidates with the highest recommendations. Notably, half of the total 22 candidates are women, which is a rare occurrence in Hungarian politics.
