- Free Transport for Bicycles and Dogs in Budapest: Beginning January 2025, passengers in Budapest will enjoy free transport for bicycles and dogs on all MÁV Group-operated public transport, including HÉV trains and Volán buses. This decision, prompted by passenger feedback and initiated by the Ministry of Construction and Transport, aims to enhance accessibility, especially for suburban and domestic services.
However, certain long-distance trains will still require a bicycle ticket. To qualify, passengers must hold specific passes, including a valid Budapest pass or a full fare Pest county pass. For rides outside the city, discounted tickets will still be available. Read more here

- American Teacher Expelled from Hungary: An American high school teacher in Budapest was expelled by the National Directorate of Immigration after a decade of living in Hungary. Despite fulfilling all obligations and having a stable living situation, the renewal of their residency permit was denied due to procedural errors.
The teacher must now leave the EU immediately and can only reapply for a residency permit after seeking to revoke their expulsion, which could take weeks to months.
